KITCHEN COSMETICS
Kitchen Cosmetics is a vegan beauty brand and charity created by founder Latoya Adlam. From hair and beard oils to body balms – all products are cruelty free and housed in plastic-free containers. Best of all, a percentage of all sales made are donated to The KC Causes, the brand’s charity which supports community initiatives such as youth hostels.
Kitchen Cosmetics prides itself on creating all-natural, vegan products. How important is this for you?
“Super important. This decision is built on an understanding of the current climate and out of respect for ancient beauty rituals. I see using harmful chemicals as simply unnecessary and a non-negotiable. Our products are sourced in an ethical manner, yet we do not compromise on ingredients sustainability or outcome. Each product is tailored and handcrafted using simple formulas, clear labelling and premium packaging.”
The brand also gives back to its community – can you give examples of how you’ve already done so?
“Understanding the depth of the beauty industries social responsibility and our core values, I wanted to create a brand that enables us to impact and support more than the direct consumer. Kitchen Cosmetics funds The KC Causes, a not-for-profit organisation. Each year we have set missions that we aim to fulfil. In 2019 we raised money all year directly through our sales to support families going through financial difficulties. Over the Christmas period we were able to deliver and donate 57 fresh food and toy hampers to those families. We were also able to donate 17 fresh food hampers to hostels around Bristol, including a youth hostel I once lived in.
This year we’re raising funds again to help more families over the Christmas, and also aim to host a self-esteem workshop for young teenage girls.”
