HACKNEY WICK FC

HACKNEY WICK FC

Hackney Wick FC is the brainchild of previous semi-professional footballer, Bobby Kasanga. After spending most of his twenties in jail – and often, among keen footballers – Bobby was determined to use his love of football for good upon his release.

Fast-forward to 2015 and after a 5-year stretch, Bobby remained true to his word and slowly set up what would soon become Hackney’s first semi-professional football club in over 100 years. He made it his business to ensure all players who signed up to the club, were also on board with serving the local community: volunteering at various organisations, and fundraising to keep the club afloat for its next generation of players.

Today the club boasts 18 teams including a Thurlow Nunn League first team, women’s and junior squad. You’ll also find the odd charity match held to raise awareness of the community’s most pressing issues such as the Anti-Knife and Think Outside The Blox games, which further cements HWFC as a club that’s passionate about making a positive impact.
