“It’s a wonderful feeling to help a client move from a place of debt to becoming a property owner”

When it comes to personal finance, we tend to fall into one of two categories: the one who organises in advance, or those who prefer to spend spontaneously, then hope for the best.

Whichever you best identify with, there’s a good chance that you could benefit from expert help at some point. And that’s where qualified Financial Advisor Emmanuel Asuquo steps in.

With over 12 years’ experience, Emmanuel specialises in one-to-one consultations and a mentoring programme, with a goal to help his clients achieve their goals – be it home ownership or debt management – and become financially free.

You may have seen him do what he does best on Channel 4’s ‘Save Well, Spend Better’, alongside The Apprentice contestant and entrepreneur Bianca Miller.

I had a chance to catch up with him:

What piqued your interest into the world of finance?

“Growing up in a household where money was tight, I always dreamed of being rich. Living near Canary Wharf I saw people in suits, nice cars and luxury apartments and I saw my way out of the “struggle”. What I have come to realise is making money for a lot of us is not the problem. The problem is keeping that money and making it work for us.”

What has been your proudest moment to date as a financial advisor?

“I can’t name one moment but I’m proud of the change I see in the lives of my clients. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to help a client to move from a place of debt and then become a property owner.”

Any testimonials from anyone who has been mentored by you?

“I asked, and one client said:

‘Emmanuel’s mentorship course has helped me build my financial knowledge as I was not taught this at school. It’s also enabled me to understand how I can use my money better and learn to budget my money so I can still do things I enjoy. I am now in a place where I know what I need to do to own my first property and I’m confident I will achieve this in the next 18 months, I could have never said that confidently before the course.’”
